The opioid epidemic killed 64,000 Americans in 2016, prompting Trump to call it the "worst drug crisis in our nation's history". The president's directive will allow federal agencies to hire more public health workers. Researchers found arsenic in 65% of baby food products; cadmium in 58 percent of the products; and lead in 36 percent of the products. When it came to the formulas, the study found nearly 80 percent tested positive for arsenic. The study was conducted by Clean Label Project. Five-hundred baby food products were tested. With flu season likely to ramp up at any time, health officials are recommending flu shots for everyone 6 months and older. Locally, flu activity this year has been described as sporadic, however, state epidemiologist Zack Moore, MD, says the number of cases should begin to increase in the coming weeks. (more...)
