Bilirakis Files Bill to Encourage New Treatments for Rare Diseases

On the eve of Rare Disease Day , ISCR said out of the 7,000 known rare diseases, treatment is available for only around 500 of them, adding that there are an estimated 70 million rare disease patients in India and 350 million worldwide. Lack of awareness and scientific knowledge in rare diseases often leads to misdiagnosis or late diagnosis and delayed treatment. Dr. Karen Murphy, the secretary of health, says the confirmed mumps cases are troublesome because spring break is approaching and the condition could be spread. Okanogan County Public Health confirmed Tuesday that one adult is sick with the mumps in the county. Treatment provides relief for the symptoms, which should disappear in about a week. (more...)

Overdose deaths in the United States almost tripled from 1990 to 2015, according to new figures released Friday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Recalled products have codes starting with 215927 or 215938, with the last six digits varying depending on the weight of the deli order. We have another recall to share with you.
