Although heavy, long-term, drinkers were found to have the greatest risks of developing cancer, even modest alcohol consumption may increase cancer risk, researchers said in the publication. The real concern is excessive and specifically binge drinking (which is defined as eight or more drinks per week or three or more drinks per day for women, or 15 or more drinks per week or four or more drinks a day for men). This is mostly because I once had a job where I worked with a close friend who was a smoker and I couldn't resist this acceptable way of taking mini-vacations throughout the day for a quick chat with her. Most companies in Japan have banned smoking in the workplace and have set up separate smoking rooms. According to the World Health Organisation, 21.7 per cent of Japanese adult's smoke. (more...)

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled various makes and models of Kidde fire extinguishers with plastic handles. The recalled extinguishers date back decades and some models have been recalled before for other issues. Canada is also recalling nearly 3 million additional extinguishers. In 2014, emergency personnel responded to a auto fire following a crash and could not get their fire extinguishers to work, resulting in a death. (more...)
