James Damore sues Google for discrimination against conservative white men

"This included employment and business-related topics such as "'diversity" hiring policies, "bias sensitivity" or "social justice.'" The lawsuit also alleges that Google uses illegal hiring quotas in order to fill positions with female and minority candidates.

James Damore, fired a year ago over a controversial memo, is behind the suit.

Google's vice president of diversity, integrity, and governance, Danielle Brown, said the memo "advanced incorrect assumptions about gender", in a statement shortly after Damore was sacked.

A Google engineer who was sacked after writing a memo defending the gender gap in Silicon Valley tech jobs as a matter of biology has sued his former employer for discrimination. However, Damore's attorneys are extra bold in their assertion that another he, along with former Google employee (David Gudeman) and unspecified others, have been wronged to the degree that a class-action lawsuit is warranted.

"Damore, Gudeman, and other class members were ostracized, belittled, and punished for their heterodox political views, and for the added sin of their birth circumstances of being Caucasian and/or males", the suit reads.

A Google spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

Damore, a former Google engineer who was sacked in August after posting a memo to an internal Google message board suggesting that biological differences between men and women "might explain why we don't see equal representation of women in tech and leadership", is joined in the suit by another former Google engineer David Gudeman.

Sears at the Galleria Mall in Centerville closing in early April
With its lack of merchandise, Sears failed to distinguish itself from other retailers, she said. The Kmart at 1400 Wildcat in Portland, Texas is on the list of store closures.

Google chief Sundar Pichai said "portions of the memo violate our code of conduct and cross the line by advancing harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace".

Damore's lawsuit is the latest legal challenge for Google, which also faces a suit for unequal pay.

The duo say they want to represent all staff discriminated against due to their "perceived conservative political views, male gender and Caucasian race".

It accuses the company of failing to protect employees with conservative views, including supporting US President Donald Trump.

The suit claims Google maintains a blacklist of conservatives media personalities not allowed on company grounds: It allegedly includes radio host Alex Jones and conservative blogger Curtis Yarvin.

Google fired Damore after he wrote a 10-page memo titled "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber: How bias clouds our thinking about diversity and inclusion".
