Arctic Air, Bringing Dangerous Wind Chills, Settles in Following Snowstorm

FUTURE TRAK- WIND CHILLS_FRIDAY MORNING

Once again, it's a night that you can't leave your pets outside, nor you should spend any prolong time outside either.

(State College) - The National Weather Service in State College has issued a wind chill advisory for the midstate, and in fact for most of Pennsylvania.

Frostbite can occur in as little as 15 minutes to exposed skin in temperatures that low.

Very cold air and gusty winds will create unsafe wind-chill temperatures into the night and through Friday.

Snowfall has ended, but strong wind gusts today will result in blowing and drifting snow, reducing visibilities and accumulation on roads at times. The warmer air mass will still have to fight bitter cold air at the surface as moisture arrives. Temperatures will only climb toward 7°F by Friday afternoon. Just a 15 percent chance for a shower. Highest totals will be found on the tallest peaks. Clouds increase throughout the day on Sunday and temperatures reach into the low 20s.

TODAY’S WEATHER PATTERN
TODAY’S WEATHER PATTERN

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 20.

A nice warmup on tap for Thursday and Friday. Tonight will feature more blustery conditions as lows dip to 1 degree early tomorrow morning. That might mix with some sleet or rain in spots too. The concern where the rain may fall is that most surfaces will still be near or below 32 degrees, which means it won't be plain old rain, it will be freezing rain.

We've been well below average across Mid-Michigan for awhile now, but we're actually going to have one of the coldest days we've seen during that stretch to close out the traditional workweek.

Come next weekend, we are cooling off back to the upper 20s with spotty snow showers.
