Gruden returns to Oakland as Raiders head coach

NFL broadcaster and former Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden greets fans before an NFL preseason football game between the Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys in Oakland Calif. Monday Au

The Raiders have announced a news conference for this upcoming Tuesday, January 9th which will be the official welcome of Gruden to the Oakland Raiders franchise. Barring anything unexpected, Gruden is calling his last game on Saturday when the Kansas City Chiefs host the Tennessee Titans. Gruden was the Raiders coach from 1998 until the 2001 season. He has a 95-81 career record. Gibbs returned to coaching in 2004 and his second stint in Washington wasn't almost as effective as his first.

Guenther has been with the organization for some time, initially coming over from Washington in 2005, where he was an assistant coach in a variety of roles, most recently responsible for the linebackers.

Shurmur is finishing his second year with the Vikings.

The ITV special is due to air tomorrow, however audiences have been treated to a quick snippet - and Ms Jenner does not hold back. I want my voice to be heard? Caitlyn Jenner continues to distance herself from the Kardashian-Jenner family...

While the Raiders are widely expected to name Gruden their next head coach as early as next week, neither Gruden nor the team has confirmed those reports. Gibbs stepped away following the 1992 season with three Super Bowl titles in his career. The team went 30-34 in his four seasons, making the playoffs twice and winning one game before retiring again.

The 52-year-old Shurmur, who had a two-year stint as the Cleveland Browns' head coach, was the fourth person the Giants have spoken in their search to find a replacement for Ben McAdoo, who was sacked on December 4 after less than two years on the job. It's also likely going to be a huge selling point for the Raiders as they attempt to lure free agents this offseason, and in the coming years. There had been some belief that he be a realistic candidate because of the firing of head coach Jack Del Rio immediately following the season finale loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
