Authorities: 'Multiple deputies down' after shooting in Denver suburb

Police swarmed what they say is still an active scene

One sheriff's deputy was shot dead and four were injured after police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment block near Denver, Colorado. No status on the deputies and no status on civilian injuries.

Parrish, 29, a married father of two young children, had been with the department for about seven months.

According to WBPF, a sheriff's office spokesperson confirmed that a SWAT team is at home where the shooting occurred.

Three other deputies and a police officer were also shot Sunday morning, along with two civilians.

The entrance to the hospital was draped with a large white sheet to shield the deputy's body from view as it was loaded into the hearse, which had a Douglas County Sheriff's Office logo affixed the door. The gunman is dead after firing "well over 100 rounds", Spurlock reported, adding that the apartment complex had been locked down.
