Amazon acquires smart home video platform Blink

Truly wireless

The e-Commerce giant has looked into ways of leaving packages in trunks of vehicles and having Amazon deliverers access customers' homes and leave the package inside. Blink makes products like home security cameras and doorbells that are compatible with Amazon's smart home line, Echo.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) has acquired startup company Blink.

The main difference is that Blink's products work wirelessly, while Amazon's existing options usually need to be plugged in. Blink sells its camera security system units at $99.

Blink also has significantly cheaper prices for its cameras compared to its competitors, and even the ones Amazon's made.

In another photo, she is casually embracing Harry's face and chose a Victoria Beckham sweater, with Harry in a Burberry coat. The couple, whose engagement was announced by Harry's father, Prince Charles, on November 27, will marry May 19 at St.

"As one of their distributors, we already know customers love their home security cameras and monitoring systems", Amazon said in a statement. "We're excited to welcome their team and invent together on behalf of customers", an Amazon spokesperson wrote in an email to Mashable. The long battery life means that homeowners can be more liberal about placing the cameras through the interior (or exterior) of their homes without worrying about a hard-wired power connection. Amazon and Google recently engaged in a public spat over their competing television-streaming offerings, with Alphabet cutting off YouTube support for some Amazon devices.

"We'll continue to operate under the Amazon umbrella selling and supporting the same great products you know and love", Blink added.

For Blink customers, changes doesn't seem to be coming immediately.
