Google is now hopeful that with the implementation of the upcoming changes, the Android and Play ecosystem will continue to thrive in 2018 and the years to come.

Google has started giving app developers a heads-up notice on making 64-bit app version mandatory on Google Play by 2019. Not only this, they are also expected to improve the performance and stability of the apps. At present, more than 40 percent of Android devices support 64-bit code and are still compatible with 32-bit apps. This is done to ensure that all the apps are capable of running on 64-bit processors in addition to the existing 32-bit processors so that there are no problems when Google inevitably drops support for 32-bit apps. This means that developers can still keep the 32-bit versions but they would have to require 64-bit versions as well.

Buried in the text of Google's blog post was a throw-away statement that future versions of Android will also enforce API level restrictions. In Android, developers target their apps by API level.

Al Franken just finally announced when he will resign
Franken said before Wednesday that he would convey a progression of addresses on the Senate floor before he leaves the chamber. A special election will be held in Minnesota to permanently fill the seat timed to next year's midterm elections in November.

"This is to ensure apps are built on the latest APIs optimized for security and performance", Cunningham wrote. Use the card to buy paid apps from the Google Play Store, or devices found inside the Google Store.

As a result, companies who sell phones with old versions or forget about those phones when it comes time to update them will stand out because the products won't have access to new or newly updated apps. What's more, from August 2019 onwards, Play Store will no longer offer support for 32-bit applications.

We're not expecting the worst to happen but it's good to know the two are teaming up to bring Prime Video to Android TV devices.

Early in the coming year, Play will begin adding "a small amount of security metadata" to each APK submitted for further authentication, and will require no effort on the part of the developer. Play Services is also responsible for storing valuable user information such as account passwords, private themes and so on.
