Facebook is adding the flawless feature for those annoying 'Facebook friends'

Facebook adds Snooze button to mute annoying friends and Pages

We've heard from people that they want more options to determine what they see in News Feed and when they see it.

With the new snooze button, you'll be able to turn off their appearance in your newsfeed for 30 days, without completely losing them forever. "You will be notified before the Snooze period is about to end and the setting can also be reversed at any time".

Additionally, it seems that Facebook was originally going to allow users to snooze people, Pages, or Groups for a day, a week, or a month. Temporarily muting a connection is better for Facebook than someone permanently cutting it off.

Facebook's announcement comes during a week a former executive expressed guilt for helping to create tools that, in his view, were ripping society apart.

For second time, part of United States military chopper falls to Japan school
Marine stationed in Okinawa had drunkenly crashed his truck into another vehicle, killing the driver, a 61-year-old Japanese man. Etsuko Kyan, the school principal, said it is "a miracle" no one was seriously hurt, reports Japan's Kyodo News Agency .

The company is also still trying to come to grips with its power and influence in the world.

Researchers at Facebook David Ginsberg and Moira Burke cited the new "snooze" feature as a way they planned to address previous criticism. Facebook writes, "We've made several changes to News Feed to provide more opportunities for meaningful interactions and reduce passive consumption of low-quality content - even if it decreases some of our engagement metrics in the short term". However, Facebook researchers are now thinking about the issue and wondering whether or not the time that users spend on Facebook is right for them. But passively consuming information from social media has the opposite effect.

Exhausted of those seemingly annoying Facebook friends? "In the years ahead we'll be doing more to dig into these questions, share our findings and improve our products".
