Arkansas Focused on Chad Morris in Coaching Search

Report Chad Morris likely to be hired at Arkansas

Arkansas has reportedly found its next head football coach, with Chad Morris set to take over the program after spending the past three years at SMU. ESPN reports the deal is in the $4 million range with the AP adding that the deal is for six years.

Morris, 49, finishes his three years at SMU with a 14-22 mark.

Crowe, who had gone 5-15 at Livingston (now West Alabama), had a 9-15 record at Arkansas, including a loss to The Citadel in the 1992 season opener, the Razorbacks' first game as a member of the Southeastern Conference.

Another remarked: "If you are looking for job satisfaction, reward and enjoyment, this is an ideal company to work for". Aside from one stray year (2015) in which it ranked 13, the company has finished no lower than 5 place.

The Mustangs qualified for a bowl game this season for the first time since 2012 when June Jones was the head coach for SMU.

The Razorbacks have been mired in mediocrity since back-to-back double-digit-win seasons in 2010-11 in Bobby Petrino's final years with the program. On Monday, the school announced Houston's Hunter Yurachek would be its new athletic director, replacing Jeff Long.

The Razorbacks have been scouring the coaching market since firing Bret Bielema on November 24 following a 4-8 season in 2017. He is also getting consideration for the Tennessee head coaching vacancy. Before coaching with the Tigers, he was the assistant head coach for Tulsa, but where he really made his name was in the Texas high school football ranks. Norvell agreed to a contract extension at Memphis earlier Tuesday, and the Morris hire came into picture soon after.
