'Lady Bird' sets record for highest approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes

Lady Bird Saoirse Ronan

The movie reviews aggregator said this week that Lady Bird, the coming-of-age film released November 3, has topped 1999's Toy Story 2 (Pixar) as the film with more positive reviews and zero negative reviews (so far) than any other movie on the website.

The previous record holder was 1999′s "Toy Story 2", which held a 100 percent score after 163 reviews. The New York Times described Ronan as 'one of the most formidable actors in movies today' in their review of the title.

Lady Bird has just done something that's never been done before.

As of early Tuesday morning, "Lady Bird", starring Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf, still had a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with 170 "fresh" reviews.

EVER SINCE THE trailer for Saoirse Ronan's new movie Lady Bird dropped in September, we have been eagerly awaiting the release of the film in Ireland.

The film is Greta Gerwig's directorial debut, which makes the Rotten Tomatoes' feat all the more impressive.

Even Armond White, the known contrarian who destroyed Toy Story 3′s ideal score couldn't help but applaud Lady Bird, admitting that "the film's conflicts are surprisingly touching". Walt Disney's Thor: Ragnarok actually has 277 "Fresh" reviews this year, along with 24 "Rotten" reviews, for an overall score of 92%, while fellow indie film The Big Sick received 233 positive reviews, and a score of 98%, earlier this year. The film has been making steady inroads into the awards season, bagging trophies at the Gotham Awards and finding a spot on the National Board of Review's top ten films of 2017 list. "We put our heart and souls into this movie, and the last step of this deeply collaborative art form of filmmaking is giving the film to the audience and the film critics". Either way, use this as an excuse to go see Lady Bird immediately.
