Derrick Rose Rumors: Guard Leaves Cleveland Cavaliers, To Retire From NBA?

Derrick Rose who’s dealing with an ankle injury may want to walk away from the NBA

A team source told ESPN that Rose's numerous injuries are "taking a toll on him mentally".

The one-time MVP and oft-injured veteran is still only 29, but it appears his future is in doubt. The team is starting to turn things around and now has a six-game winning streak that has improved them to 11-7 on the season.

Rose has played in just seven games this season and has been slowed by a left ankle injury sustained on October 20 in Milwaukee.

However, Thomas is still recovering from a hip injury sustained last season with Boston, and Rose was thrust into a starting role. Rose played four games after that, but has not been on the court since a November 7 win over Milwaukee. Last Friday the Cavs said the former league MVP would undergo extended treatment "over the next two to three weeks".

Irani takes on Congress over 'chaiwalla' meme

The team did not offer any other details about Rose's absence. This ranks bottom five among guards who have played * a href="https://stats.nba.com/players/advanced/?sort=NET_RATING&dir=1&CF=MIN*GE*26&Season=2017-18&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&PlayerPosition=G" target="_blank" rel="noopener" *as many minutes per game as Rose. He is only playing 26.9 minutes a game, which would be the least minutes he has averaged in an National Basketball Association season during his 10-year National Basketball Association career.

After signing with the Cavaliers, injury-prone Rose was looking for a chance to reinvent himself as a dominant point guard that he could be and was during his 2010-11 season.

Rose has averaged 14.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in seven games this season.

Cleveland put Rose in a walking boot last week in hopes of alleviating pressure on his left foot.
