CBS And Dish Network Reach Deal, Ending Blackout

US Sen. Ed Markey urges Dish, CBS to settle dispute that could black out of Sunday's Patriots game

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The terms likely don't matter to customers; the return means Dish customers get access to their local CBS channels, plus Pop, Sports Network and Smithsonian Channel, for the long holiday season.

CBS and Dish Network have reached an agreement, ending a blackout in some markets and allowing Dish customers in the Boise area to once again watch CBS content, including football games.

The dispute left around 13 million subscribers without access to CBS programming in major markets like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Philadelphia. The reaction was particularly sharp from Cowboys and Chargers fans who were not able to watch the Thanksgiving Day game.

Warren Schlicting, Dish's executive vice president of marketing and programming, recorded a video featured on the site that explains how the company's carriage dispute with CBS is a microcosm of a larger, fractured relationship between broadcasters and pay-TV providers. The parties' current dispute - an increasingly common issue in recent years among various carriers and content providers - revolved around the fees Dish would pay CBS for 28 local channels as well as three cable channels.

Hong Kong Open: Sindhu through to semifinals
In their last meeting, at 2016 Malaysia Open, the Thai shuttler beat Sindhu in straight games 21-7, 21-8. Sakai had saved five match points to edge Prannoy in their last encounter at the Indonesia Open.

"We are pleased we have reached a deal with DISH, who recognizes the value that the number one Network brings to viewers in these markets", said Ray Hopkins, CBS Corporation's President of Television Networks Distribution, Deadline reports.

After a 3-day stand-off, the CBS package has come back to DISH, making many people happy, but perhaps permanently losing others. The satellite and cable companies have lost millions of customers to cord-cutting in recent years, putting a dent in their revenue stream.

For some satellite subscribers, a standoff between Dish and CBS over a carriage agreement meant no traditional National Football League on Thanksgiving, an unforgivable slight to some. "Our customers are clear: they don't want to pay a CBS tax".
