Mueller to probe Trump's former adviser over alleged rendition plot

Fethullah Gulen lives in a compound in the small Poconocs town of Saylorsburg Pennsylvania

Flynn was sacked after just 24 days as Trump's national security adviser over misleading Vice President Mike Pence about his conversations with Russia's ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak.

According to the Wall Street Journal, special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation is focusing on a meeting in mid-December between Mr Flynn and Turkish officials in NY.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating an alleged plan involving former White House National Security Adviser Mike Flynn to forcibly remove a Muslim cleric living in the USA and deliver him to Turkey in return for millions of dollars, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Gulen, who has been living in self-imposed exile since 1999, strongly denies the accusations of involvement.

Despite reports indicating Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller has more than enough evidence to indict ex-White House National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and his son, no charges have been filed publicly.

Mueller is now reported to have gathered sufficient evidence to bring charges against Flynn and his son, Michael Flynn Jr, which would bring his investigation another leap closer to Trump.

The people who described the alleged proposal said they didn't attend the December meeting and didn't have direct knowledge from Mr. Flynn or his associates about its purported details.

One woman summed up the mood of many in the community: "Imagine sending your kids to school not knowing they'll never come back". The female driver, 52, was charged later in the afternoon with two counts of unsafe driving occasioning death, said police.

Both US media outlets also reported that Mr Flynn and the meeting participants discussed a way to free Turkish-Iranian gold trader Reza Zarrab, who is in a US jail over charges that he evaded US sanctions on Iran.

The discussions allegedly included how to transport Fethullah Gulen, a Muslim leader who Erdogan has accused of being behind a failed military coup to overthrow him, on a private jet to the Turkish prison island of Imrali.

Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating Russian manipulation of the 2016 USA election, has already indicted Trump's former campaign manager and another senior fundraiser on charges including money laundering and a former foreign policy adviser has pleaded guilty to perjury.

Participation in an effort to snatch Gulen in the US could expose Flynn to an assortment of federal charges.

His lawyer later said Mr Flynn did not register because he was working for a Turkish businessman, rather than a government official. The Daily Caller has reported that Flynn was contacted by DOJ's National Security Division on November 30.

Flynn is also under legal scrutiny by Mueller's team for undisclosed lobbying that he did during the presidential campaign on behalf of the Turkish government, according to sources familiar with the matter. Flynn penned an op-ed last November suggesting the USA should expel Gulen.
