Disney streaming service to cost much less than a Netflix subscription

21st Century Fox has been holding talks to sell most of the company to Disney: Sources

Disney's forthcoming own direct-to-consumer subscription digital video platform will be priced lower than Netflix, in large part, says Iger, due to lower number of titles/TV shows than Netflix. The project was revealed by Disney CEO Bob Iger during a quarterly earnings call. "It will be substantially below Netflix because we'll have substantially less volume".

This week, Disney CEO also announced that they plan on making sure their streaming service is "substantially below" the current price of Netflix, which now sits at a $10.99 a month price point for United States subscribers, and will likely increase in the coming years.

The company also plans to create a Star Wars TV show for its new streaming service. Disney's unveiling of new Star Wars, Marvel, and in-house content for its forthcoming service is just the latest in a recent flurry of news pointing to a near future when the options for geeking out in front of the TV could be embarrassingly rich.

The service is set to launch in 2019. "We can't wait to continue with this new series of films".

OnePlus 5T to reportedly cost the same as the OnePlus 5
So, for a company that likes to dub its smartphones as " flagship killers", the lack of an edge to edge display doesn't bode well. The OnePlus 5T is expected to feature a new 6-inch QHD display crammed into the same housing as the OnePlus 5's 5.5-inch screen.

Disney said Thursday it's already working on a new Star Wars trilogy to follow the series that's scheduled to wrap up in December 2019. What's more, it's said that any spinoffs of those shows will also stay on the site.

The Marvel/Netflix partnership has given us some of the best stories in the MCU, but it looks that's all about to end as Disney begins its quest for streaming dominance. A subscription costs £4.99 per month, and now, there are no plans to launch DisneyLife outside of Europe. In addition, fans can expect a live-action Star Wars show, an unnamed Marvel series, and shows based on Monsters Inc. and High School Musical.

Disney's movie studio was hurt by the underperformance of "Cars 3" and a write-off of almost $98 million on the animated movie "Gigantic", which was previously scheduled for 2020 but was cancelled. If you pay for cable, do you get to watch shows on ABC's site like you can now, or will they only live on Disney's streaming service? This seemingly means that the service will not feature the hard-edged Marvel shows that are now airing on Netflix or many Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures films. The shares are down 1.5 percent this year after a flat 2016, the worst back-to-back years since 2007-2008.
