Auto driver 'deliberately' rams into passers-by near Toulouse, injures 3

Two students badly injured in vehicle attack in France, local media reports

A driver has deliberately driven into a group of students in the south-western French city of Toulouse injuring three people, according to French media reports.

French police clarified however, that the 28-year-old driver is not on a security watch-list and after an investigation the public prosecutor said there are no indications that the vehicle attack was an act of terrorism.

All three victims were in their twenties, with a 23-year-old woman the most seriously injured and two men - aged 22 and 23 also hurt.

The driver, a man, was arrested. They were all transported to the hospital.

The driver attempted to drive off but was stopped by police and arrested straight away.

The woman's life is not in danger, police said.

"We thought there was an accident because when we got off the campus there were a lot of police cars around".

The college campus comprises of several postgraduate courses including journalism, computer science, real estate and business.

The investigation is to be handled by regular judicial police rather than Paris's anti-terror unit, he said.

France has been victim of a series of vehicle attacks by extremists inspired by the Islamic State group.
