Free speech or free market: Woman fired over flipping Trump the bird?

Juli Briskman Facebook page

Working as a marketing and communications specialist for a Virginia-based federal contractor, Briskman was sacked from her job, with the company citing "obscene content" on her social media, namely the "flipping off" incident. Late-night talk show hosts told jokes about the encounter and people on social media began hailing the unidentified woman as a "she-ro", using the hashtag #Her2020. Briskman herself then used it as a profile picture on Facebook and Twitter.

"How is that any less "obscene" than me flipping off the president?"

Ms. Briskman, 50, now says that Akima LLC's rationale for terminating her employment (she highlighted the image, taken by a White House photographer, on her Facebook and Twitter profiles), rings hollow.

Briskman's face is not visible in the photo, but the Post quoted her as saying she told her bosses at Herndon, Virginia-based Akima LLC it was her.

However, Briskman isn't convinced, especially given the fact that she wasn't wearing anything or doing anything that could have connected her back to the firm.

"Basically, you can not have "lewd" or "obscene" things in your social media". She said this colleague was reprimanded for calling someone "a [expletive] Libtard [expletive]" on Facebook, but was allowed to delete the post and keep his job.

Trump Plans to See Putin in Asia Amid Scrutiny of Campaign Ties
Earlier in the day, North Korea warned Donald Trump to refrain from any "irresponsible remarks", the France press reported. McMaster, said at a briefing on the eve of Trump's five-nation tour of Asia, which starts Friday.

She said she was told she had violated the company's social media policy, and said the company in turn fired her.

Virginia is an at-will state for employers, meaning companies can let workers go for any reason. But became aware after a few friends thought they recognized her and tagged her in the photo, asking.

"POTUSs motorcade departed the Trump National Golf Club at 3:12pm, passing two pedestrians, one of whom gave a thumbs down sign".

Her behavior will probably be rewarded by a company whose owner is a Democrat. Without more information about the discussions with Briskman - did they ask her to remove the image and she refused, or did they just fire her outright? - it's impossible to reach a conclusion over whether she has a case against Akima. "I'm angry about where our country is right now".

"This was an opportunity for me to say something". Does your employer have a similar social media policy?

Best of look at getting a new gig Juli Briskman.
