Who disabled Trump's personal account? A Twitter employee on their last day

Departing Twitter employee deactivates Trump's account

Twitter blamed the deletion of President Trump's Twitter account on Thursday night on a rogue customer support employee.

"It is shocking that some random Twitter employee could shut down the president's account".

Twitter initially said the account had been "inadvertently deactivated due to human error", but later indicated it was done intentionally by a departing worker.

Trump's twitter account briefly disappeared shortly before 7 p.m. local time (2300 GMT), displaying the message of "sorry, that page doesn't exist!"

"The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored", the statement said, promising to "take steps to prevent this from happening again". "I guess the word must finally be getting out - and having an impact".

First Amendment advocates challenging President Donald Trump for blocking some critics from following him on Twitter say his tweets are "an instrument of governance". In an interview with NBC's Sunday TODAY, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey defended Trump's use of his platform, emphasizing the importance of hearing from the man himself for the sake of accountability.

Trump's Anti-LGBT, Non-Scientist Pick for USDA Science Post Drops Out
They knew that Papadopoulos had gone overseas seeking contacts, but that isn't unusual for a foreign-policy adviser. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) top scientist is in danger of being pulled, according to a new report from CNN .

A company representative declined to answer questions including how many employees can suspend an account or what special protections there are for high-profile users like Trump. But the outage also sparked discussion of the security of Trump's account. Twitter promised a "full internal review".

"Different types of access", the former employee said.

Feel like I need to re-evaluate my life choices after reflecting on my reaction to Trump's Twitter. The news of the deactivation of the outspoken, tweet-prone president delighted many on Twitter, with some even suggesting that the unnamed employee should be given knighthood or nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump's eight-year-old @realdonaldtrump account has almost 42 million followers.

He has used Twitter to attack opponents and promote his policies, both during the 2016 presidential campaign and since taking office in January.
