Is Olivia Colman an apt replacement for Claire Foy in The Crown?

Olivia Colman

The Crown Season 2 spoilers indicate that Claire Foy's replacement has finally been revealed.

The actress is to portray the monarch in the next stage of her life, replacing Claire Foy, 33, who won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of the young Queen.

Ms Colman will start filming series three next year, but the shows won't air on Netflix until 2019. The 43-year-old actress also won a Golden Globe for The Night Manager in the Best Supporting Actress category.

She is known for her roles in Broadchurch, Twenty Twelve and Peep Show.

Colman's participation was leaked on the day Netflix released the second season of its 80s set sci-fi hit Stranger Things, to a largely positive reaction from subscribers.

Support for marijuana legalization reaches record high: Gallup poll
It's also the first time that a majority of Republican respondents favored legalization. To put that in perspective, only 12% of Americans supported legalization that year.

A spokeswoman for the show said the subscription service had confirmed seasons three and four and that Colman was "confirmed to star".

The series' creator Peter Morgan recently told Variety Magazine that while Claire Foy has done an incredible job with her portrayal as the queen so far, it is better to portray main characters as they age. "You can't ask someone to act middle-aged".

Matt Smith (Prince Philip), Vanessa Kirby (Princess Margaret), Victoria Hamilton (the Queen Mother), and Jeremy Northam (Antony Eden) are also expected to return. Someone has to bring their own fatigue to it.

News of the royal appointment was met with mixed emotions by fans.

Emmy nominee Foy was signed on to the show for two seasons but knew from the outset that the role would be recast as each season of "The Crown" covers a decade of the queen's life. The feelings we all have as 50-year-olds are different from the feelings that we all have as 30-year-olds. The Crown season 2 will arrive on Netflix on December 8.
