Rohingya inflow into Bangladesh continues

New wave of Rohingya refugees flock to Bangladesh camps

Quoting the UNHCR rapid response mission report from Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh, in which 65 Rohingya refugees were interviewed, the Labour MP highlighted accusations of torture, summary executions, sexual violence and other atrocities by the Myanmar military.

The organisation said the images reveal that at least 288 villages have been partially or totally destroyed by fire in northern Rakhine State in Myanmar since the 25th August 2017 - when the latest wave of violence against the minority began.

Thousands more Rohingya refugees have fled Myanmar into Bangladesh as a United Nations food agency reportedly withdrew a critical report highlighting the desperate hunger of the Muslim minority.

His family ran out of food and all the local markets had been shut since the Myanmar army and Rakhine Buddhist militia targeted his village in attacks, he said.

He said satellite imagery, corroborated by witness accounts, show that Rohingya homes and mosques have been burned entirely in villages, while non-Rohingya areas just one or two hundred yards (meters) away were untouched.

It said the council should explore options for bringing the perpetrators to justice under worldwide law if Myanmar authorities do not act swiftly.

Amnesty International (AI) accused Myanmar's security forces of committing crimes against humanity as hundreds of thousands of Rohingya men, women and children fled the country.

Manhunt underway after 3 killed at Maryland office shooting
The two surviving victims are in critical condition at Baltimore's Shock Trauma Center, the hospital tweeted at noon Wednesday. A police chief says the Maryland office park gunman had "beefs" with a man in Wilmington, Delaware, and shot him twice.

The video showed thousands upon thousands of Rohingya trudging along a narrow strip of land alongside what appears to a rain-swollen creek in the Palong Khali area in southern Bangladesh.

Almost 60 percent of the refugees are children.

Around 60% of the Rohingya refugees were children, according to data received from Unicef, which warned that it will be forced to cut back the aid it provides them if it does not receive fresh contributions soon.

UNICEF spokesperson Marixie Mercado told reporters in Geneva that nearly 60 per cent of the refugees who have fled Myanmar since August 25 are children.

The western region descended into chaos when Rohingya militants attacked Myanmar police posts on Aug 25, triggering the brutal military crackdown.

In the last seven weeks, more than half a million Rohingya have fled Rakhine and crossed into Bangladesh.

U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein has called the situation "a textbook example of ethnic cleansing", but he has not used the word genocide.
