At least 6 killed 22 injured in Quetta blast

The bomb went off as a truck carrying 35 police personnel was passing the area.

Minutes after the blast in Quetta, two security personnel were killed in an IED explosion in the Frontier Region (FR) of Bannu in the country's northwest.

Rescue teams, police and security forces rushed to the site after the blast was reported.

On August 12, at least 15 people, among them eight soldiers, were martyred and 40 others wounded when a suicide bomber targeted a military truck near the Pishin bus stop in Quetta.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the vehicle bombing, which took place in the Saryab Road area of Quetta, the provincial capital of Baluchistan.

The Pakistani Taliban said the attack was a "suicide mission".

"We have been fighting this war against terrorism and will keep on doing so til death of last terrorist", he said. The bombing occurred in the city's New Saryab area on Quetta-Sibbi Road at around 8:30am.

The nature of the blast has yet to be ascertained. According to initial reports, Abdul Salam was shot multiple times in what was reported as a targeted killing.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed grief on the attack and ordered the authorities to provide best medical treatment on emergency grounds. At least 14 people, including seven police personnel, were killed and 21 injured this year in June in a suicide vehicle bombing near the office of provincial police chief of Balochistan.

According to media reports, the injured were being shifted to Civil Hospital. He also said that these cowardly attacks would not hinder the security forces in executing their duties.
