London refuses to confirm the death of a jihadist british in Syria

Considered Britain's most-wanted woman Jones- known as the White Widow- was a recruiter for Islamic State

Britain's The Sun newspaper cites USA intelligence sources as saying Jones was killed in June.

A citizen of Britain Sally Jones died in June, a drone strike near the border of Syria and Iraq.

However, it was kept secret on both sides of the Atlantic over fears her 12-year-old son Jojo may have also died in the blast.

It remains unclear if he was killed and sources said the attack would have been aborted if it was known he was close by, the newspaper added. A second son, aged 20, is believed to have remained in the UK.

Jones is among many suspected IS operatives on a United Nations sanctions list, which includes a travel ban and a freeze on her assets.

British IS recruiter Sally-Anne Jones, dubbed the White Widow, is understood to have been killed in a USA drone strike.

Jones in particular targeted young girls to travel to Syria and become jihadi brides and her husband reportedly ran a hacking unit for ISIS.

Following the death of Hussain, Jones was reportedly placed in charge of the female wing of IS' Anwar al-Awlaki batallion - a foreign fighter unit formed with the objective of planning and executing attacks in the West. She would use social media to try to recruit other women to join ISIS.

Jones, 50, also went by the name Sakinah Hussain, or Umm Hussain al-Britani, and once said she wanted to behead Christians with a "blunt knife". "Come here I'll do it for you".

Major Gen Chip Chapman, the former head of counter-terrorism at the Ministry of Defence, told the Press Association that she would have been a "significant" target due to her marriage to Hussain and role as a recruiter.
