Liverpool Star Coutinho Claimed to Have Made Secret Deal

Philippe Coutinho

Barcelona chief Oscar Grau says they'll have the money to sign Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho in January.

The Brazil worldwide missed the start of the season with injury, but has scored three goals on his return to action for Jurgen Klopp's men.

However, it is highly unlikely that, after rejecting a sizeable offer for the No. 10 in the summer, that Liverpool will sanction Coutinho's departure in January.

Coutinho handed in a transfer request at Liverpool, who reportedly rebuffed three bids from Barca during the closing weeks of the window - the last of which was understood to have come in at £119million.

Liverpool were forced to email Barcelona over the summer to ask them to stop their public courtship of the player and reports in Thursday's papers claim the Reds have been angered once again by Barcelona's latest attempts to distract the player.

According to The Mirror, Barcelona are now ready to return for Coutinho in January after missing out on him in the summer.

Yet despite Grau's comments, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague remains doubtful that Barça will actually submit a bid for the Brazilian in January.

At this stage of the season, the hope will be that Coutinho ignores Barcelona's advances and continues to focus on his form at Anfield.

Manager Ernesto Valverde believes that Coutinho could provide a big boost to his side in the fight for the La Liga title and the Copa del Rey, allowing him deploy a fresh Andres Iniesta in the Champions League.
