Chicago Marathon Security Questioned after Las Vegas Shooting

Vegas killer booked two rooms overlooking Lollapalooza this summer

A law enforcement official said Thursday that the suspect had booked a room at Chicago's Blackstone Hotel. The hotel is located about one block away from the Grant Park concert venue.

TMZ revealed that the man booked two rooms-as he did in Vegas-at the Blackstone, a luxury hotel on Chicago's tony S. Michigan Ave.

Hotel sources who spoke to TMZ said that Paddock was "forceful" in his demands, and that hotel staff gave in.

Several law enforcement sources told NBC that investigators are looking to speak to a woman who was seen with Paddock in his last days, when his girlfriend was out of the country.

Paddock checked into his room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel on September 28, three days before carrying out his deadly attack, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said. We're told the hotel does not guarantee view rooms, but for some reason in the hotel computer system there's a note that guaranteed Paddock a view room.

Paddock rained bullets down on concert-goers from a nearby hotel tower, killing 58 and injuring hundreds more.

Google's Pixel Buds set the stage for the next hardware wars
This was first spotted by Android Police and this app is will use sensors on your pixel smartphone to control music and DND mode. Called Pixel Ambient Services , its description says that the app "provides features based on local context for Pixel devices".

Possibly putting off Paddock is the fact that the overlooking Blackstone Hotel with only 21 floors isn't as tall as Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Hotel with 43 floors (Paddock booked a 32nd floor suite), with trees in part obstructing views.

There's no indication that Paddock ever made it to Boston.

"We are constantly revising and asking fundamental questions", said Mayor Rahm Emanuel, adding that the marathon would proceed as planned. The sold out festival draws 100,000 attendees each day and is considered the hot ticket in town attracting known dignitary kids such as Malia Obama and others.

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe said he was surprised Paddock had provided so few clues, and that has proved challenging.

"A machine gun is not going to blow up a tank of fuel", he said.

Clark County Sheriff did share on Wednesday night said Paddock had rented an apartment in another high-rise above another music festival a week earlier, though he could not say why.

Lombardo said he didn't know what Paddock intended with the explosives and wouldn't elaborate on getaway plans.
