Las Vegas gunman booked hotel overlooking Lollapalooza, report says

Authorities say the Las Vegas gunman may have considered other music festivals to target including Chicago's Lollapalooza shown here in July 2016

The Mesquite, Nevada man killed 59 people Sunday night and wounded more than 500 others at a music festival, firing high-powered rifles from his 32nd-floor room at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in what was the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

TMZ says Paddock never checked in to the rooms, but claims he had specifically requested "view rooms" facing Grant Park, where hundreds of thousands of people flocked over the four-day concert.

Paddock fired on a crowd of about 22,000 at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, about eight miles down the Las Vegas strip from The Ogden on Sunday, sending concertgoers running for their lives during the mass shooting spree.

This news comes on the heels of a report that Paddock tried to reserve a room in Downtown Las Vegas during the Life is handsome outdoor music festival. Lombardo said at a news conference.

The source told the Las Vegas Review Journal that construction crews have repaired the holes after the FBI had investigated.

His motive remains unclear.

The person was not authorized to speak publicly and disclosed the information to The Associated Press only on condition of anonymity. He says investigators have recovered items and video from the hotel.

She said she loved Paddock as a "kind, caring, quiet man" and hoped they would have a future together.

A lawyer for Marilou Danley read a statement from her after she was questioned by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents in Los Angeles about her boyfriend. She said she had no inkling of his murderous plans. She was visiting her native Philippines. "We don't know yet".

Ms Danley said Paddock had bought her an airline ticket to visit her family and wired her money to purchase property there, leading her to worry he might be planning to break up with her.
