Nintendo Creators Program Will No Longer Let YouTubers Live-Stream

YouTube

There has been friction between YouTube and its content creators for several months now, with many critical over the way in which videos have been demonetized over content that is not advertiser-friendly, with Call of Duty video makers heavily affected. This is especially true this year, with AdSense revenue on YouTube in a constant state of flux and channels finding their videos demonetised. Any members of the program are now banned from live streaming any Nintendo content. Today (September 29), Nintendo announced a change in the Nintendo Creators Program that doesn't exactly fix their rough relationship with creators. It then goes on to say: "This means that you can not broadcast content on YouTube Live from the account you have registered to the Nintendo Creators Program".

You can keep uploading original content and building your audience on YouTube even if you're not in the partner program-and you can reapply again in 30 days. So Nintendo has decided that live streaming Nintendo gameplay counts under their policies. You can get tips from top creators in the YouTube Creator Academy.

Not only has the platform cut down on content like swearing, it has also come under fire for demonetising innocent LGBT+ content. Creators have also complained that queries to YouTube on why specific videos were demonetised can often be left unanswered. It doesn't mean you need to monetize your channel with ads.

Nintendo has not provided any additional information on why it changed its rules on live streaming its games on YouTube.

This might be a frustrating development for any YouTuber's that don't plan on burning bridges anytime soon, but still want to livestream and have their videos monetized in the process. The company's second solution is that creators interested in streaming from their main channel withdraw their account from the program and instead submit videos to it on an individual basis.

Russell said he expects to depend more on his own Patreon and other diversified income streams like mobile apps going forward.
