Russell Westbrook signs 5-year, $205M extension

George Westbrook's mega-contract could impact decision on future

Westbrook said this week that Oklahoma City is where he wanted to be.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Westbrook's extension is worth $233 million over six years, the maximum amount he could have received from the Thunder.

Westbrook, 28, now has the biggest total contract in National Basketball Association history, totaling $233 million over six seasons including 2017-18.

Russell Westbrook appears to be committing himself to the Oklahoma City Thunder for the foreseeable future.

Unilever buys Carver Korea for US$2.7 bn to strengthen Asia foothold
Carver also provides a strong foothold in North Asia, the world's largest skincare market, Unilever said. The two had formed a consortium a year ago to buy the stake for 430 billion won.

Over the course of Westbrook's 9-year career, he has averaged 22.7 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game and 7.9 assists per game.

With the extension sitting on the table since July 1, Westbrook led some to believe that he was entertaining the idea of leaving OKC following the 2017-18 season.

After trading for Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, the Oklahoma City Thunder gave Russell Westbrook the largest contract in National Basketball Association history.

With new running mates in George and Anthony, the focus now shifts toward locking in this new-look "Big Three". The city will not face the prospect of another star athlete departing the state as Russell Westbrook has reportedly decided that he is all in with the Thunder. To have him cement his legacy as a leader as we enter into our 10th season in Oklahoma City is extraordinary. According to NBA.com, Oklahoma City was 12.2 points better per 100 possessions with Westbrook on the floor during the regular season, and the team had a minus-51.3 net rating in the 46 minutes he was on the bench during the playoffs. The Thunder is one of three National Basketball Association franchises (Houston and San Antonio) to have finished the regular season with a.500 or better record in each of the last eight seasons. The $205 million extension kicks in next summer, after his current deal pays him $28.5 million this season, and the final year of the contract includes a player option.
