Riverdale's KJ Apa Involved In a Late-Night Car Crash

Riverdale's KJ Apa in Car Accident, Fell Asleep at Wheel After 16-Hour Workday on Set

K.J. Apa, who plays Archie on The CW's Riverdale, was involved in a late-night vehicle crash last week. While Apa was released from the hospital without serious injuries, his auto was allegedly destroyed after hitting a light pole.

While WBTV's policy is that actors are responsible for transportation to and from set, especially when shooting outside the USA, a studio source notes that actors are allowed to call a taxi or stay in a nearby hotel on the studio's dime if they feel it is unsafe to drive themselves.

The crash has reportedly caused outrage on set, where cast and crew are protesting the long working hours, and especially the lack of transport for exhausted actors late at night.

The accident comes less than a month before the second season premieres on October 11, and an insider said that representatives for Warner Bros. and key Riverdale cast members will discuss the incident and address safety concerns when it comes to long shoots.

Facebook will also "create more services to protect our communities" which will address political harassment and bullying. He said Facebook "won't catch everyone immediately", but instead can "make it harder to try to interfere".

The Hollywood Reporter said Apa, the star of hit teen series Riverdale, was driving home from the show's Vancouver set after a "gruelling" 16-hour work day when the accident occurred. According to the site, WBTV's policy is that actors are responsible for their own transportation to and from set, particularly when production is shooting outside the USA, however a source claimed that the actors are told they can call a taxi or stay in a hotel nearby if they feel driving conditions are unsafe.

Fortunately, Apa is safe, but the conditions that led to his accident may be part of a wider problem. "Someone's going to die". A source told THR that all actors are encouraged to call a cab or stay in a hotel close to the set if they feel they're not able to drive after working, and the studio will pick up the tab.

Apa plays Archibald "Archie" Andrews on the drama series based on the Archie Comics characters.

A representative for Apa didn't immediately respond to INSIDER's request for comment.
