White House holds press briefing with McMaster, Haley

Nikki Haley — the US Ambassador to the UN — attends the daily briefing at the White House in Washington US

Speaking to reporters alongside USA ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley at a press conference in the White House, McMaster, the nation's top security chief, said the USA was running out of options on North Korea.

McMaster's comments come a day after the Kim Jong-un regime fired a ballistic missile over Japan.

"I have no problem kicking it to General Mattis", Haley said at a White House press conference, explaining that despite diplomatic efforts and strong United Nations sanctions, the North Koreans "continue to be provocative".

President Donald Trump's national security adviser says the US has a military option for North Korea, but that is not its preferred route.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump met with military families and watched an air show demonstration at the base that serves as the home of Air Force One, the presidential plane.

That makes the Marina Bay Street Circuit the most physically demanding race of the season. Inaugurated in 2008, the Singapore Grand Prix was Formula One's first ever night race.

North Korea, according to McMaster, is "one of the world's most urgent and unsafe security problems". He calls on all nations to enforce them and do everything they can to address the threat and prevent war.

In her opening remarks, Haley made sure to savage North Korea for its repeated nuclear and ICBM missile tests. She said they were continuing to work on reform at the United Nations and said that finally the body is taking action on certain issues. "As Ambassador Haley said before, we've been kicking the can down the road and we're out of road".

The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting on Friday in NY to discuss the crisis, though no further sanctions were expected to be agreed. "... I have no trouble kicking it to [Defense Secretary] Gen. [Jim] Mattis, because I think he has plenty of options".

The last set of sanctions included restrictions on North Korea's oil imports and a ban on its textile exports.
