British Prime Minister scolds Trump over terror tweets

President Donald Trump on Friday suggested British intelligence officials were aware of the assailant or assailants behind an unfolding terrorist attack on the London subway, an assertion that British officials called unhelpful speculation.

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely condemned the attack as well, saying "Israel condemns the #terror attack in London".

In a tweet, Mr Trump described the attackers as "loser terrorists" and "sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard". "Must be proactive!" he tweeted.

That message was followed minutes later by "Loser terrorists must be dealt with in a much tougher manner".

"The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher and more specific-but stupidly, that would not be politically correct!" the president wrote on Twitter.

A Downing Street spokesman said he also offered "his condolences over this morning's cowardly attack in London", which he described to reporters earlier as "a bad thing".

California passes 'sanctuary state' bill to protect undocumented residents
But they will be prohibited from from transferring immigrants to federal authorities if they have committed only minor offenses. The bill also prohibits police and sheriff officers from inquiring about a person's immigration status.

"Asked about a Friday morning tweet in which Trump said the USA ban on travelers from certain countries should be more "specific", Trump said: "We have to be tougher and we have to be smarter".

There were further fears over leaks of Friday's probe when "CBS This Morning" tweeted a photo of the improvised device, saying "A source close to investigation says the bucket contained explosive materials consistent with other recent terrorist incident". The incident is being treated as terrorism by the police.

Downing Street said Mr Trump had offered his condolences over the attack during the telephone call. "Any speculation is unhelpful".

Trump lambasted London Mayor Sadiq Khan in June, when the local official tried to call for calm after a van plowed into a crowd of people.

The President did share highly classified intelligence about suspected IS plans, until then closely guarded among United States allies, with the Russian foreign minister during a meeting at the White House. "We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!"

The president's intervention threatened to place fresh strain on the US-UK intelligence-sharing relationship, which has come under pressure a number of times since he entered the White House. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments on October 10 on the legality of the bans on travelers from six mostly Muslim countries and refugees anywhere in the world.
