White House: Trump To Visit Florida Thursday In Wake Of Hurricane Irma

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President Mark Pence reached the Gulf coast of Florida on Thursday to survey the widespread destruction caused by the Hurricane Irma and the relief operations. Trump will travel with Vice President Mike Pence and first lady Melania Trump. Power has been restored to 65 percent of the 6.7 million customers around the state who lost electricity during the storm, according to the governor's office.

Mr Trump also complimented Florida Governor Rick Scott's response to the crisis, and said he should run for the U.S. senate.

Also joining Trump were Sen. "We've seen you enough".

"They've never seen a category like this come in because it came in really at a five", he said.

Aides say that in engaging himself directly with the federal efforts, Trump hopes to avoid accusations lobbed against his two most recent predecessors of appearing disengaged or aloof during certain moments of crisis. He visited Texas and Louisiana after Harvey struck.

Paris for 2024, Los Angeles for 2028
Paris will site events across iconic venues, and will build an Olympic Village along the Seine River at Saint-Denis. At the time, they committed to working out a deal that culminated with each city getting an Olympics on Wednesday.

In Florida on Thursday, Trump couldn't help but insert some political discourse into his remarks. "I hope this man right here, Rick Scott, runs for the Senate", he said. "We're going to be with you tomorrow", Trump said.

"We're working on a deal, very important is the wall to me and we have to know the wall will not be obstructed", said Mr. Trump of the border security package discussions with Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

Mainly, however, he sought to highlight the work of federal, state and local agencies, which have received praise for their coordination amid trying circumstances.

Trump went on to call the hurricane an unparalleled disaster, "the likes of which nobody has ever seen before".

Hurricane Irma was one of the most powerful Atlantic storms on record. Of those killed were eight patients at a Hollywood nursing home who spent days in sweltering heat after Irma knocked out their air conditioning.
