US House votes to block aircraft sales to Iran

Iran to IAEA: No, You May Not Visit Our Military Sites

However, he understood that Trump may not be so keen on that option and suggested that the U.S. could curb the Regime without ending the deal by simply certifying Iran as noncompliant with the nuclear deal at the October deadline.

In a speech last week, US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley laid out how and why the administration might decertify the agreement, citing Iran's other malign activities, such as support for terrorism.

"The Iran deal is one of the worst deals I've ever seen, certainly at a minimum the spirit of the deal is atrociously kept", Trump said aboard Air Force One.

But Johnson said it is important for Iran to see that economic benefits result from the nuclear deal.

The nuclear non-proliferation experts said they "firmly support vigorous efforts to monitor and enforce compliance" with the agreement.

The US has imposed new sanctions on Tehran on Thursday over its ballistic missile program despite statements published by the Iranian leadership stating that Tehran fully abides by the nuclear agreement.

Trump, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, said he is inclined not to certify Iranian compliance after having twice found it compliant at earlier deadlines.

While the administration is reportedly trying to work with European allies to rework the deal or extend it, Kahl said those allies are "categorically" opposed to reopening the deal, at least in part because they think it is working.

The network has a history of suspending or firing people who cross the line politically, but Hill's fate remains unclear. The controversy following Hill's tweets has even sparked debate among sports analysts, New York Daily News reports.

The administration also faces an October 15 deadline to certify whether Iran remains in compliance with the nuclear deal. The agreement saw Iran sharply curtail its nuclear program and allow extensive inspections in return for the lifting of worldwide sanctions. The three-month recertification deadlines determine the status of sanction relief under the agreement.

The administration is also weighing whether to pressure the International Atomic Energy Agency to more rigorously enforce the current terms of the deal by gaining access to military sites.

In another, the White House elaborated.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani was also scheduled to deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly.

Colin Kahl, who served as an assistant to former U.S. president Barack Obama and national security adviser to former vice president Joe Biden, said the Iranians will maintain its "near-term strategy" of trying to drive a wedge between the United States and Europe.

Standing beside Tillerson, Britain's Johnson compared the tensions over North Korea's nuclear advance with the relative certitude that the Iran deal has provided.

The IAEA inspectors are charged with ensuring that no potential nuclear fuel - highly enriched uranium and plutonium are the two commonly used sources - is being diverted to a covert nuclear weapons program.
