Murray and Hingis seal memorable US Open mixed doubles triumph

Jamie Murray won the US Open mixed doubles with Martina Hingis

Venus and Hao-Ching Chan lost the US Open mixed doubles final in NY on Sunday to top seeds Martina Hingis (Switzerland) and Jamie Murray (Scotland).

It was the 24th singles or doubles Grand Slam title for Hingis, who has a shot at a 25th when she partners Chan Yung-jan in the women's doubles final at Flushing Meadow on Sunday (Monday NZ Time).

Kiwi Michael Venus shakes hands with Martina Hingis after losing to the former world No 1's team in the US Open mixed doubles final.

"It was an awesome feeling to play here in the singles final", Hingis said of her 1997 Arthur Ashe Stadium finals debut.

It is clearly a partnership that works but Hingis was non-committal on court as to whether they would play together in Australia and bid for a third straight title.

Murray and Hingis romped through the draw at Wimbledon but things were tougher here.

Regarding the border, Barnier said that the solution will need to be unique. I think there is a solution and we're going to get on and do it.

In a postgame interview, Altidore said his mom told him that Stephens.

"It's been a lot of fun for me", Murray said.

Hingis and Chan, formed this year after Chan parted ways with her longtime partner and sister Chan Hao-Ching, have dominated the circuit since forming and the second-seeded pairing did not drop a set in their six victories.

And the 36-year-old - she turns 37 later this month - appeared to hint during the press conference that she is thinking about retiring for a third time.

"I did play a lot of mixed doubles when I first started playing and had a lot of success".

The name of Murray was engraved on another US Open trophy as Jamie, alongside Martina Hingis, won the mixed doubles title in a fast and furious final that required precision, power and a steady nerve. She had surgery in January and returned to the tour in July.
