Woman pulls gun on mum during fight over school supplies

Video footage of a woman pulling out a gun at a Walmart in Novi Mich

Talk about a stressful shopping experience.

Back-to-school shopping can be stressful but shoppers at a Walmart in MI saw that stress take a violent turn after an argument over a notebook ended with a gun being drawn.

No parent will deny that back-to-school shopping can be a tense, unpleasant experience, but it was especially so for customers at a Michigan Walmart this week. Many kids were present.

According to police, one of the Farmington Hill residents and the 20-year-old woman both reached for the last notebook on the shelf. "They began to argue who was the rightful purchaser of that notebook". It started as a shouting fight, and then it was a brawl.

It is not yet clear what charges the woman who pulled the gun out will face, but police have confirmed they are preparing charges.

"She pulled out her firearm and tells them to stop attacking her daughter while pointing the gun at them", Baetens added.

Police said the gun was loaded but no round was in the chamber. A little girl standing in the background has her mouth in an "O" of surprise, because a woman just a few feet away from her is waving a gun. "It was a senseless act of violence all the way around".

"She's a valid (Concealed Pistol License) holder", the detective said. Now police are reportedly trying to figure out if this counts as self defense or not. "I don't know how they ended up with it, but in the middle of the confrontation, they ended up with it and they purchased it", Baetens said.

However, police also said the woman was legally allowed to be carrying the firearm, which was registered in her name.
