Sopore encounter: Security forces gun down 2 Hizbul terrorists in Baramulla district

Sopore (Jammu and Kashmir), Sep 04 (ANI): Two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorists were gunned after an encounter with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore on Monday.

Earlier, security forces in Baramulla district had started cordon and search operations in Sopore's Shangergund area after reports of two terrorists hiding in the area.

Two AK assault rifles, three AK magazines, 90 AK rounds, one INSAS rifle, one INSAS magazine, 13 INSAS rounds and other items were seized from the encounter site, the police spokesperson said, as per PTI. The two terrorists were later identified as "Divisional Commander" of the terror group Pervaiz Ahmad Wani and Naeem Ahmad Najar. The terrorists were wanted in multiple cases.

On Saturday, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Ishfaq Paddar was killed in an encounter with security forces in Tantrypora area of Kulgam district.

However, when the security forces were moving towards a particular area in the village, militants opened fire, he said, adding the fire was retaliated after the militants refused to surrender. Pervaiz Ahmad was involved in the serial blast on mobile towers in 2015.

Meanwhile, Border Security Force foiled Pakistan backed infiltration bid and shoot an intruder along the International Border in Arnia Sector, Jammu region.
