Olympic runner David Torrence found dead in Scottsdale pool

Olympian David Torrence Found Dead Monday in Scottsdale

A cause of death has not been reported, and police said there are now no signs of foul play.

Merber added, "I was going to pick David up at the airport in a few days to come to my house like he does every September".

Staff members at the Center Court Condominiums called 911 about 7.30am on Monday after seeing a man at the bottom of the pool. City firefighters said Torrence was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Twitter, USA Track and Field described the news as "devastating", while New Zealand's double Olympic medallist Nick Willis wrote that "nobody was more dedicated to their running" than Torrence.

"Today we lost an incredible athlete and an even greater friend", fellow runner Kyle Merber tweeted Monday night.
