Omarosa Manigualt walks out on black journalist convention after uproar

Omarosa's NABJ Appearance Was Very Tense

Others said she had no business being there in the first place (as she isn't a journalist) and as an actual representative of the White House, she refused to add anything substantive to the discussion - and so earned her cold shoulders. "Let me tell my story", Manigault-Newman told Gordon.

Heated words, walk-outs and turned backs were as much part of the conference as the questions leveled at Manigault - whom many thought was dodging serious questions about President Donald Trump and his attitude about police brutality, NPR reported. When Gordon, according to news reports, requested that he be able to finish his question, Manigault-Newman said, "I don't want to hear your question".

"When you try to kill me and my career because you want to advance yourself, because you are now making money after not making money from selling cell phones, and now you're making $180,000 a year, good for you", Ryan added.

Footage of the event has surfaced on YouTube, including cellphone video (above) shot by a reporter for Heavy.com who attended the panel discussion.

The director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison was a late addition to the Friday afternoon panel at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in New Orleans.

Manigault-Newman was asked whether Trump's comments were appropriate for a commander in chief, and she replied simply, "No".

Emergency room evacuated after unknown odor detected
Crews are going through the operating room and emergency department one more time to check for any irritants. As that number started to increase, the hospital closed the operating room and began transferring people out.

The event began cordially, but within minutes, it became a shouting match between Manigault-Newman and Gordon. "Honestly it was a total mess but one that accurately shows the divide between the mindsets of the African American community in this country today", she said.

And she argued that the issue of police brutality is front and center for the Trump administration, despite the president's recent comments, which were widely interpreted as endorsing the use of excessive force by officers.

Several activists and journalists-including NewsOne's Jamilah Lemieux-turned their backs towards Manigault-Newman as she spoke.

NABJ President Sarah Glover at one point faced the audience herself to explain Manigault-Newman's appearance at the conference.

"We have reached the point of diminished returns", Gordon, the moderator said to the audience. She claimed she was there to talk about her personal experience with violence, as some of her family members have been murdered. She also reportedly slammed the audience for always assuming the worst about Trump.
