The I-T Department's use of central forces (CRPF) during raids conducted at premises linked to Karnataka Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar has not gone down well with the Karnataka state government.

August 03: With the news of around 44 Gujarat Congress MLAs lodging in Bengaluru doing the rounds, Karnataka state Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara on Thursday said that they would not let the political vendetta of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah succeed. He alleged that Congress MLAs were offered Rs 15 crore from BJP to break from the party but they rejected the offer as they "stood to defend the democracy".
Stating that the comments were made under the influence of motherly affection towards him, Shivakumar in a statement said, "Im tendering public apology to the chief minister". "Do not terrorise or threaten people, otherwise the government will not function", says Leader of Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge.

While Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that only the Karnataka Minister was questioned by the officials, the Congress alleged that four of its MLAs were interrogated by the CRPF.
Shivakumar's house was also searched by I-T department officials till 2.30am on Thursday. He said "I'm not against the raid or search on any house, but the time that they have selected and the intention of the central government and the IT department".
