BJP using muscle, money, Modi to influence RS poll: Congress

The I-T Department's use of central forces (CRPF) during raids conducted at premises linked to Karnataka Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar has not gone down well with the Karnataka state government.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah earlier on Friday said that IT raid on Shivakumar is a politically motivated move. "The more the Congress tries to use its muscle and strength in the Parliament on such issues, it paints its face black every time, it shames itself" BJP leader G.V.L. Narasimha Rao told ANI.

August 03: With the news of around 44 Gujarat Congress MLAs lodging in Bengaluru doing the rounds, Karnataka state Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara on Thursday said that they would not let the political vendetta of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah succeed. He alleged that Congress MLAs were offered Rs 15 crore from BJP to break from the party but they rejected the offer as they "stood to defend the democracy".

Stating that the comments were made under the influence of motherly affection towards him, Shivakumar in a statement said, "Im tendering public apology to the chief minister". "Do not terrorise or threaten people, otherwise the government will not function", says Leader of Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge.

"The torn sheet, restored partially, is now being analysed", an official said.

Right now, Matt Moore is definitely the Dolphins starting quarterback should Tannehill be out an extended period of time. Tannehill suffered a sprained ACL and MCL in the same knee last December but did not have surgery. "So it was good".

Minister Shiv Kumar, a Congress heavy weight of Karnataka who will be crucial for the party in the coming Assembly elections, has meanwhile been "taken away" by IT officials.

While Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that only the Karnataka Minister was questioned by the officials, the Congress alleged that four of its MLAs were interrogated by the CRPF.

Shivakumar's house was also searched by I-T department officials till 2.30am on Thursday. He said "I'm not against the raid or search on any house, but the time that they have selected and the intention of the central government and the IT department".

Ahmed Patel, political secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, in a series of tweets has accused the BJP of a "witch hunt just to win one Rajya Sabha seat". Earlier, the 44 Congress MLAs now stationed in Bengaluru attended a meeting with the Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, in an attempt to "safegaurd" democratic principles.
