The Real Secret Of Improving Quality Life With Microsoft's Release

Microsoft is bringing eye control support to Windows 10 to help those with disabilities

Eye Control allows you to navigate around the Windows 10 desktop simply by looking to move the cursor, and it's another major step forward on the accessibility front.

With the Eye Control feature, disabled persons will be able to operate on-screen keyboard, mouse, text-to-speech experience in a hands-free environment.

The feature needs a compatible eye-tracking camera, which are at the moment only produced by a Swedish company called Tobii. Support for other Tobii products is in the pipeline, namely the Dynavox PCEye Mini, PCEyePlus, EyeMobile Plus, and I-series.

A spokesperson said Microsoft had "no more to share". Upon activating Eye Control, a launchpad pops up on the screen. To use the mouse, users must train their eyes on the target to click on, and then can select an action like left click, double left click, right click, or cancel.

Since the feature was just confirmed a day ago, it is still in the beta phase and for now, it only works with EN-US keyboard layout. Currently, only the EN-US keyboard layout is supported. Once the basic keyboard is mastered, Microsoft added a shape-writing feature that can form words by dwelling at the first and last character of the word, or by glancing at letters in between. To enable this function, go to keyboard settings on the Fn page. Paired with the operating system's text-to-speech functionality, users can have phrases spoken aloud.

Also new in build 16257 is the company's first update to the Windows Console's default colors in 20 years.

Windows Console comes with a new color scheme to take into account new display technologies. However, it wil also allow users with 10 S to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro free of charge.

Using Microsoft's Hyper-V virtualization technology, WDAG is able to isolate and contain the threat of potential malware downloaded via the browser. Instead of a finger swipe from key to key, it tracks the user's gaze.

So, what do you stand gaining from the latest Windows 10 preview that has just been released? This is still a development build, and some things may not work as expected.
