Ohio homeowners opened up their freezer to find the nightmarish cause of a “terrible smell”

Youngstown police arrested Arturo Novoa, 31, on a warrant for abuse of a corpse Saturday night.

Novoa allegedly told a friend that his electricity was out but needed to store a freezer in the friend's basement at a home in Campbell, Ohio.

Despite noticing the freezer was locked with a padlock, Eshenbaugh agreed to take it in. The pair also received a bond of $1 million, which was set by a local judge. She is also in the Mahoning County Jail, charged with abuse of a corpse and obstruction of justice.

Graves, 28, was added to the Ohio Attorney General's Missing Persons' website earlier this month after concerns about her well-being since she missed her birthday, Easter, and Father's Day.

Layton, who soon after became Novoa's live-in girlfriend, "started living the life of the victim", Youngstown City Prosecutor Dana Lantz told BuzzFeed News.

Police were immediately alerted and recovered the frozen remains, kept in "more than one bag", according to the complaint. The body was taken to the Cyuahoga County Coroner's Office for forensic examination. According to WKBN, police think the body, which has not been officially identified, was moved from Youngstown to Campbell.
