Wrexham Glyndwr University Presented With Silver Award in Teaching Excellence Framework

The silver award recognises that an institution consistently delivers "high quality teaching, learning, and outcomes for its students and consistently exceeds rigorous national quality requirements for United Kingdom higher education".

Many local and worldwide students, including from India, choose universities for their degree courses based on such rankings, which may vary based on differences in criteria used, but drive student numbers in a sector facing major funding cuts in recent years.

This is the highest possible rating achievable under the tough criteria and B&FC is one of only 14 colleges nationally to receive it, putting it's higher education provision among the UK's elite.

Preston's College and the University of Cumbria have the bronze accolade for meeting "rigorous national quality requirements".

The TEF is administered by the Higher Education Funding Council for England and degree providers could choose whether or not to take part.

"TEF does not measure absolute quality and we have raised concerns that the current approach to flags and benchmarking could have a significant unintended impact", warned Tim Bradshaw, acting director of the Russell Group, who said that applicants should be given clear guidance on how to interpret TEF results.

Chichester's college and university have both been awarded Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) results released today.

43 universities received a gold rating (32%), with 67 receiving silver (50%), and 25 getting the lowest rating, bronze (18%).

I mean, it's like having the Super Bowl and then three weeks later the World Series takes place, the final game. Conor with Floyd is show - business show or a amusing show, or for somebody's interest show, not for us.

Wrexham Glyndwr University has received a Silver award for the quality of its teaching in a prominent new academic ranking.

Sir Anthony Seldon, vice-chancellor of the University of Buckingham, told the Telegraph that he thought the new ratings would be "the biggest single catalyst to good teaching that the university sector has ever had".

"It is important that the data used are appropriate, robust and take account of the considerable diversity within our university sector", she added.

The TEF judging panel gave Brunel a silver award after analysing a range of metrics and further information submitted by the University, with particular praise for Brunel's academic support for students and work in helping students build excellent career prospects. The TEF measures excellence above and beyond this.

"Every single one of them has contributed to this institutional award, and I want to thank them all".

"UK universities must seriously consider the impact of the ratings on their worldwide student recruitment", counselled Paul Raybould, Hobsons' marketing director.

And before you ask, yes both Oxford and Cambridge scored gold too.

Sally Hunt, general secretary of the University and College Union (UCU), said the results have "little credibility within higher education".
