It's curtains for Google Play predecessor Android Market app store

Google says that it's ending support for the Android Market on devices running Android 2.1 Eclair and lower.

From June 30, 2017, users having Android 2.1 and below will no longer be able to access or install apps from the Android Market.

This change will take effect without any notification for the users on Android 2.1 and earlier because of technical restrictions with the Android Market app.

For me the nerves, the adrenaline I feel when I play on this court is impossible to compare to another feeling. Even Wawrinka applauded that one. "Rafa, I have nothing to say-you were too good", said third seed Wawrinka .

Collectively, these two apps - dubbed "Magic browser" and "Noise Detector" - had been installed from Google Play more than 60,000 times, Kaspersky Lab Senior Malware Analyst Roman Unuchek wrote in a Tuesday blog post.

"It has been 7 years since Android 2.1 Eclair launched", Google Play Software Engineer Maximilian Ruppaner wrote in a blog post. The search giant adds that it will continue to support "later versions of Android Market for as long as feasible".

The company also pointed out that these older versions of Android are no longer supported by most app developers. What that exactly means is open to interpretation, but at least it looks like Google isn't completely abandoning it just yet. And more importantly, you are probably familiar with the paper bag icon with the beloved Bugdroid on it: Google's very own app store before it was rebranded.

If you're one of the few people still clinging to an ancient Android device, it is officially time to upgrade. In fact, the version of the app store that is carried on the old mobile devices is said to be the pre-Google Play. Meaning, devices running on Android 2.1 (Éclair) and lower still used Android Market.
