Dems hit secrecy of GOP health care bill, threaten delays

American Health Care Act would harm IL kids

"The Senate will soon have a chance to turn the page on this failed law", said the Kentucky Republican.

Democratic Sens. Brian Schatz of Hawaii, Chris Murphy of CT and Cory Booker of New Jersey take a selfie before a meeting with CBO Director Keith Hall in Ford Building where they asked for a copy of the Republicans' health care bill. President Trump has threatened to cancel them in order to bring about instability in ObamaCare marketplaces.

According to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, his fellow senators can look forward to receiving a draft of the much talked about, but unseen Obamacare repeal bill on Thursday before rushing into a vote prior to the July 4 congressional recess.

McCain's allusion to the various Moscow investigations engulfing the Trump administration reflected the frustration among many Republicans Tuesday that the Senate working group has presented no information or draft of a healthcare bill.

On the other hand, a more generous phase-out of the expansion and higher Medicaid growth caps could alienate conservatives that want substantial savings from the bill.

It was still unclear whether Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell can win the support of at least 50 of the chamber's 52 Republicans to ensure passage given the opposition of all 46 Democrats and two independents.

But one of the bill's thorniest issues will likely come in how it deals with Medicaid, the government program that helps low-income Americans access health insurance.

Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is confident no Democrats will vote for the bill.

White House torn over Mueller's role as pressure grows
Ruddy originally shared his belief with PBS' Judy Woodruff on " PBS NewsHour " Monday after visiting the White House earlier. The White House has directed questions for details to outside legal counsel, which has not responded.

Senate Democrats went all out Tuesday to derail the Republican health care replacement for Obamacare, saying GOP senators are keeping it secret because they are "ashamed" of it. John Barrasso, R-Wyoming, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Wednesday afternoon.

Grassley also argued it was important that Republicans act quickly because of what he said were flaws in the Affordable Care Act, including insurers fleeing marketplaces.

Pressed by Cuomo on the closed legislative process, Johnson said, "I'm not going to criticize the process unless we start taking a vote way too early". They're all going to oppose it, but they can't ultimately stop it from eventually getting an up-or-down vote.

Besides Lee and Cruz, conservative Sen. Schatz told the more than 90,000 viewers watching live to expect a "vote-a-rama" when the Senate finally presents the bill, planned for next week.

Senate Republicans gave themselves the goal of having the new bill passed by the July 4th recess, but as it gets closer their timeline is getting more hard to reach.

The Senate has not held any public hearings on their health care bill (the House did), senators involved in the talks have been tight-lipped on the substance, and the public will only have a few days to see it before it gets a vote. Republicans like Barrasso see the bill as a win for the GOP and for the promises they made on the campaign trail.

"[It will] take a different approach based upon these endless discussions we've had with the only people interested in changing the law, which is Republican senators", McConnell said.

"It would completely de-stabilize the Covered California individual market, and there are also policies being proposed that would reduce protections for people in employee-sponsored coverage, " she said.
