Trump reportedly tells GOP senators that the House healthcare bill is 'mean'

President Donald Trump speaks before having lunch with Republican Senators and White House staffers in the Cabinet Room of the White House in Washington Tuesday

While progress is being made in closed door negotiations - with Texas Sen.

In particular, Trump believes the bill approved by the House does not go far enough to protect Americans who depend on health insurance under Obama's Health Care reform. During a ceremony at the Rose Garden, Trump praised the bill as "an incredible healthcare plan" and "something very, very incredibly well-crafted", according to the White House.

"Senate Republicans' attempts to pass Trumpcare in the dark of night, without any transparency is one of the most egregious examples of legislative malpractice in decades".

Politico reported June 9 that conservative Republicans and lobby groups are on the brink of rebelling against the Senate's efforts. While they can spend more money on certain areas, they still have to hit the $133 billion marker to comply with Senate rules. At the time Trump said he was "so confident" the bill would get through the Senate.

"I've been talking about repealing and replacing Obamacare now for nearly two years", he said. Republican senators have been talking among themselves, trying to come to agreement on a workable version ever since.

"Thune said Trump did not lay out policy specifics of what he'd like to see in the bill, nor did he set a deadline for passing legislation through Congress".

His Senate Republicans colleagues may not be listening. We commend you on your stance to repeal these Obamacare taxes and urge any final package accelerate or at least maintain the House-passed tax reductions.

Others say the process is hard to defend, but they have no choice if they want to keep their campaign promise to replace Obamacare.

"The message was that we need to get this done, it needs to be done right, but sooner is better than later", said Sen. Lindsey Graham of SC and Jeff Flake of Arizona, also told Bloomberg they don't know what's in the bill.

White House discussing moving Spicer to senior communications role
Spicer held another off-camera briefing today, but this time audio was not recorded. Former communications director Michael Dubke resigned last month.

When Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, was asked if Trump committee to continuing CSR payments, she said, "It was just a good discussion". Tom Cotton, Alaska Sen.

Remember the GOP complaints about the way the Affordable Care Act came into being? Vice President Mike Pence, who has worked with Senate Republicans for weeks on health care, also joined the lunch. "And this is a great plan", Trump said.

The Ohio Republican acknowledged the meeting didn't appear to resolve any differences, but added "that wasn't the goal".

"Nothing's been nailed down on that, so everything's still on the table", Senator Shelly Moore Capito of West Virginia, one of the states that expanded Medicaid, said on Monday.

But that was way back in May and Trump, who specializes in meaningless shilling, quickly moves on to the next sales pitch. The bill requires agencies to verify an applicant's Social Security number before the Treasury Department pays the tax credit to a health insurer.

I think most of the taxes are going to go away for sure - the taxes that affect consumers, your tax on prescriptions, tax on medical devices, tax on insurance plans. "But he wants to get the job done". "I appreciate what you're doing - to pass a phenomenal bill for the people of our country", Trump said with media in the room.

Before the meeting with Senate Republicans began in earnest, the president told his guests that the Senate version will be "generous, kind, with heart". That's what I'm saying.

"That may be adding additional money into it", he remarked.
