White House discussing moving Spicer to senior communications role

Sean Spicer's Press Briefings May Be Coming to an End. Here's How You'll Remember Them.

Shortly after Comey was terminated from his position, Trump hinted in a tweet that their conversations may have been recorded and that Comey should therefore avoid leaking to the press.

The White House has had preliminary talks with candidates to fill the job of communications director.

"So the White House press secretary is getting to a point, Brooke, where he's just kind of useless", Acosta said during an appearance on "CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin". Former communications director Michael Dubke resigned last month.

With the upcoming changes, Spicer will assume a supervisory role over both the press and communications offices. "The president owes him this much for all he's done for him". Spicer held another off-camera briefing today, but this time audio was not recorded. The report also says that Deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has told people close to her that she doesn't want the press secretary position. Earlier in the administration, the briefings were a major draw for political junkies, often broadcast live in their entirety on cable news networks.

U.S. lawmaker shot by anti-Trump gunman showing improvement
President Donald Trump says that wounded Congressman Steve Scalise's condition is more hard than people first realized. Scalise sustained serious injuries as the bullet traveled through his pelvis and injured internal organs.

"Spicer should be elevated and if he's not, I would not blame him for leaving", a White House official told Politico.

Spicer had stumbles of his own. Spicer was attempting to condemn Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for using chemical weapons, and tried to clarify that he understood Hitler had brought Jews "into the Holocaust centers".

Previous reports have said that President Trump is looking to shake up his communications team, especially in the aftermath in the firing of former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey.

Separately, Politico reported on Monday that the search for Spicer's replacement is well underway: Fox News contributor and radio host Laura Ingraham has already been interviewed for the gig.
