'Trooping the color' in London for queen's official birthday

The Queen meets residents and volunteers in West London following Grenfell Tower fire

Saturday's (17 June) celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's official birthday was marked with the customary Trooping the Colour but the sweltering London sun was too much for some guardsmen.

Many commented on the fact that Kate had dressed little Charlotte in pink and wore the same pink, as do many makeup suits matching their daughters. William's wife Kate and Charles' wife Camilla were in a carriage with Prince Harry. According to the Telegraph, George had initially seemed restless as the group gathered for photographs, but once the flyby began he was "bouncing on his toes as he waited for the next plane to arrive".

She said in her message on Saturday: "Today is traditionally a day of celebration".

Princess Charlotte of Cambridge and Prince George of Cambridge offer up the most entertaining expressions.

While the royal children didn't participate in the parade ride down The Mall to Horse Guards Parade, they were front and centre to watch the RAF planes fly past.

Namely, right before her second birthday was celebrated on June 11, Queen Elizabeth was paying her respects to the victims of the Manchester concert bombing that involved fans of Ariana Grande. As a nation, we continue to reflect and pray for all those who have been directly affected by these events.

Rep. Scalise faces additional surgeries; condition still critical
Scalise was shot Wednesday morning as a gunman sprayed bullets into a Republican congressional baseball practice. His sedation level has been lowered enough to where he has been able to communicate with doctors and his family.

The Buckingham Palace statement issued by Queen Elizabeth said: "In recent months, the country has witnessed a succession of bad tragedies".

Saturday was the first time the Irish Guards had trooped the Colour in front of Her Majesty since 2009.

The big event commemorated the Queen's 91st birthday, which was in April.

Her official birthday message followed protests yesterday over the Grenfell Tower fire which has killed at least 30 people, as people stormed Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall calling for help for those left homeless immediately.

The tradition was established in this way because King George II was born in November when the weather was not exactly right for a parade.
