Grades: Jason Dufner takes the Memorial after a roller coaster weekend

Summerhays takes advantage of Dufner collapse at Memorial

Summerhays, who started the day five strokes behind Dufner, took only five holes to tie for the lead, after Dufner ran up four early bogeys on another fine day at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio.

Rickie Fowler hits form the first fairway during the final round of the Memorial golf tournament, Sunday, June 4, 2017, in Dublin, Ohio.

Daniel Summerhays seized a three-shot lead at the US PGA'S Memorial tournament on Saturday as overnight leader Jason Dufner ballooned to five-over par 77 in the third round.

The 33-year-old from Utah, who finished third in last year's PGA Championship, trailed midway leader Jason Dufner by five shots overnight but five birdies - and a bogey on the 13th - saw him move into the outright lead on 13 under par ahead of 2013 victor Matt Kuchar.

At least he's still in the game, and he has company.

Summerhays shot 13-under through three rounds.

He fell back into a tie for third at nine-under with compatriots Bubba Watson (68) and Justin Thomas (69).

The victory was Dufner's first on the PGA Tour since his triumph at the CareerBuilder Challenge in January 2016, and he insists he never lost his belief or concentration, despite the magnitude of his collapse during Saturday's third round. Fowler was leading by one at the first weather delay, 12-under thru 12 holes, and was trailing Dufner by two playing the 18th at the second stoppage, returning for a walk-off 5, dropping to joint runner-up. But fan-wise you wouldn't really see that.

Trump blames Qatar for funding terror
Saudi Arabia , the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt have suspended all flights to and from Doha and closed off sea and air links to Qatar. Egypt and Bahrain branded as terrorists 59 people, including Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader Yousef al-Qaradawi.

Among the keys for Dufner's success through the first 36 is his putting, which isn't typically the first skill most golf fans think of when they think of Dufner. He missed a 6-foot par putt on the third, then hit into the right bunker on the par-3 4th and made another bogey. And Dufner always has been a superb shot-maker. After Dufner holed a long par putt on the 18th green, Fowler's chance was gone and the title was secure for Dufner.

Using a breathing trick he says he picked up while reading about military snipers, Dufner has been better on the greens this year, but at Muirfield Village he was both good and bad.

JASON Day feels he is ready to fire on all cylinders after a strong showing at his hometown Memorial Tournament.

"A train wreck can happen at any moment", Summerhays said in sympathy.

Rickie Fowler, who played alongside Dufner in the final round, and Anirban Lahiri tied for second at 10 under.

"(Or) if there was even a two-or-three hour (weather delay at the golf) I could very possibly make it". But like any true champion, he rebounded Sunday with a 4-under 68 to earn his fifth PGA Tour victory.

Fowler and Dufner lived under the same roof during the winter months when Dufner came down to south Florida to play some golf. Spieth started the back nine with two straight birdies, but followed with two straight bogeys.

"That makes me really proud to kind of grind through it", Dufner said. "They're hungry. They want to win tournaments".
