Neill Blomkamp unveils Oats Studio sci-fi shorts teaser 'Volume 1'

Watch The First Trailer For District 9 Director's New Short Film Coming To Steam

For Blomkamp, this isn't the first time he's used short films to test the water for new movie ideas. At any rate, the short film appears to depict an alternate 20th century history where humans wage war against a race of lizard-like alien invaders; "Alternate Vietnam war timelines are coming", was how Blomkamp described it on Twitter earlier in May.

Neill Blomkamp has teamed up with the new short film company Oats Studios to release a series of experimental shorts, the first trailer for which looks as insane and epic as anything you'd expect from the "District 9" and "Elysium" director. The trailer also harks back to the short films Blomkamp made prior to the critical success of District 9. A new trailer, released today, for a short film now named "Volume 1" will stream on Steam "soon".

There's no official confirmation at the moment, but it looks like Sharlto Copley, Sigourney Weaver, and Dakota Fanning were involved in this production; we'll update if and when more information becomes available.

Cops: Racial slur sprayed on LeBron James' Los Angeles home
James does not live in the house, which is in the Brentwood area, and he was not believed to be in it at the time. The Cavaliers are scheduled to face off on Thursday (Friday NZT) against the Golden State Warriors in Oakland.

We don't know exactly when this film will come out, besides "soon", or what its length will be, besides "short". "The new world altered everyone". But now we have the our first look look at just what the studio is making, and it's pretty much a smorgasbord of alien invasion delights. "Adapt or die. Simple as that", the narrator ends. As noted by io9, Blomkamp has previously expressed a desire to use Valve's Steam as a distribution for short films, but neither the teaser video nor the web page confirm that.
