Wenger: FA Cup win my presentation for new deal

The Guardian says Arsenal's board is set to rubber-stamp a new two-year contract for manager Arsene Wenger when they meet on Tuesday morning.

The Gunners sealed a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Wembley in the FA Cup final on Saturday evening, lifting the trophy for a record 13th time.

He met with majority owner Stan Kroenke on Monday to determine his future with the club's board being notified at a meeting on Tuesday, according to the BBC. I was delighted for him on Saturday [after being Chelsea in the FA Cup final].

It was Wenger's seventh FA Cup victory since he joined the north London club in 1996.

The Frenchman's talks are not believed to have gone problem-free however, as the board are said to have been unhappy with their manager's transfer dealings in recent years, and he has been ordered to arrange our transfers much earlier this summer.

Am I the right man to take this club further?

"I am a forgiving man", he said. "It's not about popularity, it's about competence".

Arsenal are not in the Champions League next season.

Death toll from thunderstorm in Moscow climbs to 16
Earlier, investigators said that the victims were mostly killed by falling trees and various structures, including a bus stop. According to BBC News , if the death toll is confirmed, it would be the deadliest storm in the city for more than 100 years.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was the closest player to Moses as the Nigerian hit the Wembley turf, but the England global - playing at left wing-back for the Final amid Arsenal's defensive crisis - said he never truly feared conceding a spot-kick. "I don't know if he can let go". The more people that write me off, the stronger I get.

The Frenchman claimed the triumph was one of his proudest moments, alongside the 2003-04 Arsenal team that won the title without losing a single league game.

'Honestly, I did not see the situation.

Wenger also failed to deliver Champions League football next season after Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League, 21 points behind title winners Chelsea.

He complained, with justification, that Alexis Sanchez's fourth-minute opener for Arsenal should not have been allowed to stand due to a "very clear" handball, but admitted his team's start "wasn't good enough".

"There is disappointment for the final result, but it can happen and there was a lot of pressure", he said. We needed to hold on but we were maybe not paying attention. "Numbers in the squad and also quality". "Sometimes I think it could be tiredness and I don't think - and I repeat - if my player dived he did it with the real intention to do this".

Though winning the FA Cup has placated some fans, there is still concern over how playing in the Europa League could affect both the current squad and the potential for new signings.
